Poet and lyricist Himayat Ali Shair passes away in Canada

Famous Urdu poet, Himayat Ali Shair breathed his last in Toronto, Canada earlier in the morning today.

According to reports, the poet suffered from a heart attack.

Shair was born on 14th July, 1926 in Aurangabad, British India, and moved to Karachi after partition. He then pursued an MA in Urdu at the University of Sindh, Jamshoro to start his writing career.

Himayat Ali Shayar worked as a lyricist for movie soundtracks for which we was awarded with numerous awards while also managing to produce his own film.

Alongside, he was applauded, and well-regarded for his famous works such as "Aag mein Phool", "Shikast Aarzoo", and "Mitti ka Qarz".
